Update: Brass Be Gone!

Two years ago at about the same time I started this blog (Wow – I can’t believe it’s been that long ago!), I spray painted the knobs and hinges on the interior doors of our home. In that post, I told you I would keep you updated, so here’s the update! Continue reading »

Peanut Butter Bites

These peanut butter bites are super easy to make and are delicious. I eat them for breakfast, but they would be just as good for dessert. Here’s the original recipe I found on Pinterest.

Recipe:

  • 1 cup dry oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (I use dark chocolate)
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (I’ve also used almond butter)
  • 1/2 cup ground flaxseed
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla (I leave this out and you can’t tell the difference)

Mix everything together and roll into balls (I also refrigerate mine). Enjoy!

Bathroom Vanity Redo

A few months ago, my husband and I decided to redo the vanity in our guest bathroom. We already painted the walls and bought a new shower curtain a couple years ago, but we still needed to spruce up the vanity. I’ll share with you the process of painting cabinets Fallon-style (aka – I have no idea if I did this correctly, but I think the cabinets turned out great!).

Our Unexpected Journey

Jer 29:11

I wrote the post below nearly a year ago, but, until now, Mark and I just weren’t ready to share it.

*************************************************

March 13, 2013

Throughout life’s journey, some situations go according to plan and others don’t. Many situations that don’t go according to plan are seemingly insignificant and easily brushed off. Others are more significant, and when they don’t go according to plan, we are hurt, sad, confused, angry, the list goes on. I believe it’s in these more significant situations – these unexpected journeys – that we can most clearly see God is in control, full control; a realization that can be extremely comforting.

Almost a year ago Mark and I started trying to have a baby, and thus began our ‘unexpected journey.’ We became pregnant really quickly and we were so excited (but also scared and nervous)! I remember seeing the positive pregnancy test – it was so surreal.

My first sonogram didn’t show a heartbeat. Mark and I were disappointed, but the sonographer reassured us that it was still early and that by next week we should be able to see a heartbeat. Continue reading »

Celebrate Jesus

Thanksgiving has passed, and Christmas is upon us. In fact, our Christmas festivities already began last weekend, will continue this weekend, and not end until the week after that.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the hubbub that surrounds this season – decorations, lights, gifts, get-togethers, food…the list is endless. Let’s stop for a minute and remember the TRUE reason for the season – Jesus.

A few weeks ago I was at a craft fair (looking for Christmas gifts, nonetheless), and a wooden plaque that read “Celebrate Jesus” caught my attention. These two words are so simple, yet so profound, aren’t they? They pricked my soul, causing me to stop and think about the upcoming Christmas season.

How To…And Not To…Clean Hinges

While taking off our bathroom vanity’s doors to prep for painting (post coming soon!), I noticed just how gross the hinges were.

Side note:  You’ll notice each hinge is labeled. This is to ensure I put them back in the correct spot when I re-attach the cabinet doors. I once didn’t do this when removing door hinges…bad idea. The doors would not close quite right.

Finally Fall

Yes, I know, it’s technically been fall for a while now, but it hasn’t really felt like fall – until now. Trees are changing colors, leaves are falling, mums are blooming, mornings are chilly, and nights are cool. All signs of fall!

All of this puts me in the mood for camp fires and chili. Who’s with me??

Here are a few pictures I snapped of the fall landscape over the last few days…

Ok, so the last one isn’t technically ‘fall landscape.’ I just couldn’t resist taking a picture of this grey, fluffy cutie!

Craft Booth…Take One

My dad and I participated in our first ever craft fair this past weekend. It was quite the experience, and we learned a lot!

Pictures of our booth are below. I was happy with it for our first ever booth display. It just seemed so overwhelming, though – too much stuff in too small of a space.

We learned from other vendors that it’s not so much about having a ton of items as it is about having a really eye-catching display. Which, of course, makes sense. After seeing other craft booths over the weekend, we now have ideas about how to make our booth more inviting.

We plan to do this again, but need time to recuperate. Craft Booth…Take Two may have to wait a year :). This was exhausting! Lol.

Carry Me Now

The song Carry Me by Josh Wilson has really resonated with me lately. The words are so powerful. We have such a truly awesome God who never leaves our side. It’s so important (but sometimes so difficult, oddly enough) to trust Him in all circumstances.

Here are a few of the lyrics. I just love them.

Jesus calm my heart
Come near me please
Lord don’t let these worries get the best of me
Oh I believe, that You’re still here with me
Cause You meant what You said when You said You’d never leave

Carry me, carry me, carry me now
From my sinking sand to Your solid ground
The only way I’m ever gonna make it out
Is if You carry me, carry me, carry me now
God carry me, carry me, carry me now

I encourage you to click this link to listen to the whole song.
